what to expect after joining

We will walk you through the join process, which is online, fast and easy. The dues  are collected annually for each calendar year and are about $330 which go to the troop. Additionally, national BSA membership is required ($85/year for youth). Thus, the annual costs of Troop 62 membership is about $415 and includes all campouts and all programming for the year with the exception of the week-long summer camps and high adventure trips. Dues are charged each year in October/November for the following calendar year. If you join during a calendar year, we will charge prorated dues based on the month during which you join. Each scout will also need a uniform and a handbook. This one time expense runs between $50 and $100. We offer scholarships to scouts who cannot afford these expenses - nobody will be excluded from scouting for lack of funds. 

Attend our weekly troop meeting which are every Tuesday from 6:45 pm to about 8:15 pm at the Park Hill Masonic Lodge. Sometimes we meet at different locations, so make sure you receive our email invites and updates. At these weekly meetings, Scouts work on a wide range of skills and record their progress -  and thereby advance through a number of Scout ranks, with Eagle Scout being the highest rank that can be accomplished. 

Troop 62 hosts monthly campouts (with the exception of December) which are typically on a weekend and within  driving distance from Denver. The troop owns tents, cooking gear and can loan a number of items to Scouts if needed. On these campouts, Scouts work on additional skills, hike, navigate, build snowcaves, host campfires, cook, and do many other fun activities. 

Parents are always welcome at all our activities, from the weekly troop meetings to campouts to other activities, We love having parents around and are grateful for their presence and participation, but this is not a requirement. We also love to get feedback from parents at any time.
